addiction is always an inability to face the pain of reality. The root cause could be loneliness, singleness, marriage or failure. As T.S. Eliot once said, humankind cannot bear much reality. I was struck as we were driving, man, the number of sex shops that have the word fantasy in the business title. It's an attempt to escape from reality.
