Our sleep is regulated by two primary biological processes that are conserved across species. The first is our circadian rhythm, right? And this is kind of our drive to sleep. It's actually a really simple principle: You wake up in the morning and your balloon is really flat. As you go throughout the day, it kind of builds up and builds up with sleepiness. When it gets to kind of an optimal amount, kind of a big, big sleep balloon, you begin to feel sleepy,.You go to sleep and you kind of drain out that sleepiness until the next day. But sometimes it can be out of line.
