What if You Have Just Two Bits?

Each bit has two potential states, off on zero one. As you add bits to a system, you dramatically increase the number of states. If we double eight bits to get 16bits, that doesn't mean that we double 256 to 512. It is two to the power of 16, that that is 65 thousand, 536. We wouldn't be able to represent any numerals or at least not all of them, unless we were just to some parts of the alphabet,. because otherwise it takes up too many letters or values.
