Flowers and fruits are rich in sugars, oils and proteins. This abundance created new ecological connections among plants and the animals that polinated flowers,. Insect diversity especially rapidly grew in concert with the rise of the flowering plants family. In this flower and insect filled world, feathered dinosaurs took wing about 150 million years ago. Birds then diversified into a range of forest and water dwelling species.
