The History of the Sheriff's Office

The sheriff is what's called in Arizona the chief law enforcement officer of the county. So that means supposedly over city police and over federal agents. I'm afraid I don't exactly know how it works. But these three letter federal agencies were all Johnny come lately. The DEA was a creation of Nixon in 1973 and it's like very recent.
