Ruth Joyce's Story
Ruth Ben-Ghiat ran a successful cosmetics company in the 1940s. She gave birth to her first child, Barbara Joyce, and two years later their son Kenneth Roberts was born. But she couldn't even go out to the funerals of her parents because she had just given birth; they were both dead. "I missed the adrenaline rush that came with closing a tough sale," she told CNN's Gloria Borger.
