Octavian's War on Egypt
In 30 BC, Octavian's Roman army invades Egypt and besieges the palace. Antony attempts to repel them, but his troops are outnumbered two to one. Most of his army now deserts, or surrenders. The Phthapatra barricades herself in her own mausoleum at Alexandria. She is cowering from Octavian, the heir of Julius Caesar,. Her first Roman lover. Mark Antony spends a month in a modest chamber in the same building as Cleopatra. He is unable to fathom all he has lost.
