There's evidence to suggest that dexamethasone actually does upregulate tight junction proteins. This implies that steroids reduce vasogenic edema by tightening endothelial tight junctions, essentially by making tight junctions even tighter. But as you said, Tony, we don't use steroids clinically for cytotoxic edema like an ox brain injury post arrest. So we're sort of left using steroid only for vasogenic edma as regards to brain. And thankfully, it's very effective at treating that.
