Post Exercise Anabolic Effects on Muscle Growth and Strength

The anabolic window was based on studies that looked at a period of just a few hours post exercise, where you measure muscle protein synthesis. And then when studies came out looking at longer term adaptations in muscle size and strength, which takes at least a few weeks to assess, this hypothesis began to crumble. A slight majority of the studies showing no difference in the timing of of post exercise nutrient administration on muscle growth and strength. The main factor that was showing advantages of the so called nutrient timed or protein timed conditions was the fact that that protine wasn't matched in the control group.
