The History of Uppity

The Romani people, an ethnic group that are now mostly in Europe and America, typically made their money by selling goods. And you've got a little bit of a reputation potentially as swindlers. That is where this word came from. It does not mean to offend, does not. But once they realize the history of it, I would like to hope that they wouldn't use it.
