There's this tremendous sense within shame of feeling like one's character is indicted by having the thought in and of itself. So emotions like guilt and shame are considered to be irrational. Depression is where a person feels that they themselves are inadequate. People can feel depressed without being depressed. The pressure, as you may know, is a very powerful diagnosis in and of herself.
