"There is a lot of darkness and as a writer, I had to go to some very, very dark places," she says. "I'm more interested in not so much what people do, but why, why they're doing what they're doing." The author was always interested in the interior dialogue that we have with ourselves,. That's where the real story is, what drives each of the characters in the book - good and bad.
