The Limits of Being a Black Muslim Woman in a Fashion College
Some wanted to crossover into the mainstream but were seen as not being compatible with mainstream because of judgments made on how they looked. An example of this was someone called Clementine who had done an access scheme to enter fashion college and then wanted to transfer onto the BA. And she identified as a black Muslim woman, she's from Burundi originally raised in Belgium for settling in Manchester. She said there was expectation that what she'd do would be seen as niche and peripheral.
