The Importance of Organization in Archaeology

Jared Diamond and Francis Fukuyama say large populations can't function without leaders who make decisions, executives who carry out the decisions and bureaucrats who administer laws. I think he says that those things are spontaneous and unavoidable, not that we need them. So hit so diamond and Fukuyama kind of are on the same page about that sort of stuff.
