Stranger Things: A History of the 1980s

I don't know if I can speak to what it can tell us about the 1980s. When I read Philip K. Dick's ideas about the human and the android, those ideas are explored and extrapolated in the film. Scott Buchanan argues this, I think, gently but nevertheless firmly in his BFI guide that this is an affirmation of the human. But then the acknowledgement that all of those bits and pieces amount to nothing and are just washed away like tears and rain seems to be the ultimate affirmation that none of this shit matters.
