The movie is set up with this cultural lens of at the beginning we're established with this western society that's very individualistic like you said it's also not facing directly the horror of what happened to danny so there's a sense where she's not even used to the idea of talking about it. There's no sense of collectively anyone else acknowledging what she is going through or the horror ofwhat she has gone through at the beginning.
