Riddick and the Necromongers

Riddick has to wear goggles whenever there's light because the light hurts his eyes honestly this is something that always confuses me and seems needlessly complex with with comic book characters where they have an origin story. i think it gives a weird astrological bent to the impending arrival of the necromongers  and it helps drive this kind of ancient world model of interplanetary human civilization that we see in the film. There's also this clear clear importance of mercs or mercenaries in the franchise and supposedly the larger universe as well.
