The Dehumanization of Africans in Vietnam
Achebi called the novella offensive and deplorable, saying it dehumanized Africans. "Platoon is showing you what it was like from a soldier's perspective," he says. The film doesn't treat the people of Vietnam like they're human or have any respect for their culture. It almost felt like a shitty horror movie from the 80s - more for effect than anything else.
