I'm always on the soapbox saying that we are deterministic thinkers living in a probabilistic world and that hilarity or tragedy often ensue. It's very difficult to get people to think probabilistically. My angle is surfing because I grew up surfing every summer in LA where my grandmother lived. The world economy has this super fluid, constantly moving. So it's a lot more like surfing than it's like mountain climbing. And if we treated our work in the markets as an exercise in surfing, I think you'd get much better outcomes.
