The End of the Second Chronicles
In 586, Nebuchadnezzar orders all the Jewish people to be taken captive. The Jews who didn't go into exile have had 70 or 80 years in this relatively empty place that is at rest according to the author of the book of Ezra. They've had time to build up their own little thing and they avoided the plight and the pain that the Jewish people had gone through probably by denying their ancestry.
