The Importance of Consciousness
De-growth is about restraining capital's growth and democratizing the fruits of it. But to get there, I think you have to confront the perennial problem of consciousness. You've got to educate people if education is the correct term. To break with the ideology of growth, which is actually a Cold War ideology in competition with communism. We need to show that your standard of living, your quality of life is what's going to improve. It's not about having more toys and choxico's. And then raising the utopian question, what would a better life be?
