How to Alert Your CTOs When Things Go Wrong
At GitHub we have three severity levels, which I think is fairly common. We've got SEV 3, 2, and 1. You probably need something like page or duty where you can rotate who's on call. Three ways to reach that person. And then who to page if you couldn't get them. That works fine at certain scales. Once you get to GitHub scale, having a Slack channel alert you that something's wrong is probably not a scale.
