The Engine Starts Giving Thrust Again
The flight was at five thousand 524 feet at a speed of 219 knots and was nine nautical miles away from airport. The captain tried to decrease speed by pulling back on the number one thrust lever, but there was no corresponding decrease in engine speed. So he goes, he brings the thrust lever back to idl but the engine is stuck at 74 %. They're going too fast. When they went to deploy the flaps, they realize, oh, we're at the maximum allowable speed for flap deployment. Why didn't we slow down? And that's when they' look ad.
