The court has allowed for largely unfettered gerrymandering regimes, meaning that one party can seize control of state government power and effectively insulate themselves from democratic input. It feels like a throwback to those days where like state legislatures were more had more primacy in the relationship between the public and the federal government. The president then chooses his own judges who oversee all of these processes,. Creating a feedback loop of undemocratic institutions at every level of government; it's an anti-democracy stance.
