Countering the Myth of Golden Ages through Prehistoric Archaeology

This chapter argues against the notion of 'golden ages' by examining the archaeological site of Lapensky Vr in Serbia, where prehistoric communities transitioned from agriculture to hunter-gatherer lifestyles. The availability of giant catfish spurred not only survival strategies but also artistic expression, suggesting that cultural flourishing can occur alongside technological regression.
