How Did the Economy of Running a Restaurant Change?

When did an eating establishment start to look more like something we'd recognize as a restaurant to day? I guess by proper restaurant, what we mean is a place that does obviously give you calaries and fills you, but also there's something more to it than that. And that really happens around the 18 hundreds when rich people start to view public space as a place they want to be in. In america, in 19 30, a meal in a restaurant was roughly 25 % costlier than an equivalent meal at home. But by 20 14, that difference had risen to 280%. So thereis this kind of paradox of how is it the case that restaurants continue to grow in the twentieth century
