The Silent Way

The silent way has been adopted around the world as a way of teaching languages. In Aotearoa, New Zealand it's used for over forty years to teach Terreo or Maori. Usually the first word attached to the wooden rod is the Maori for stick or tree. Over time they can become colours, things, feelings, people and family trees. While the teacher was silent, simply pointing to or rearranging the blocks, making worlds and new relationships.
