The Importance of Innocence
Blake's songs of innocence and experience are supposed to be easy, simple, direct things that children could sing. But I think Blake's inviting us to hold contouries together without trying to collapse them into simplistic notions of a fallen adult world which is forever has been wrenched away from the simple joys of childhood. So in a sense, there is an invitation to travel a kind of middle road in which those seeming contouries can be helped to get.
