The Importance of Cash in a Long-Term Portfolio
We have the Fed almost at 5% with overnight rates, no risk. The question is whether cash or those basically very short-term investments are strategic role in a long-term portfolio. Over time, other assets can do better if you had to generate growth for retirement goals, or for college saving. But definitely, we have seen a little bit of a shift from reaching out for yield from the years in which yields were at zero.
