How to Troubleshoot a Time Machine Backup
If you had told your Mac, forget this time machine backup, leave it out there, the old one, and then just go through the steps of reconnecting to it, that would have been my first troubleshooting step. It might not even be the AFP versus SMB thing. I've just seen it where time machine needs to be taught how to reconnect if the name of a device on the network changed or, you know, something about your network changed time machine. Unless you had the corruption issue, then you would have gotten connected and then I wouldn't work. But let me just reconnect this and it's all good.
