How Do You Define Attention?

The father of psychology William James over a hundred years ago defined attention ads. We have this limited capacity and some things we do can replenish our resources like getting a good night's sleep or taking a break going outside for a nice long walk. Other things we do drain these resources or drains our attentional capacity. These are trying to concentrate very hard on something multitasking, switching your attention very quickly,. being interrupted, having to reorient back to your task. Finally we discuss a number of ways in which we can reclaim control over our valuable attention.
