Buddhism is not nihilistic because it doesn't appear, he says. It's a kind of affective response that contributes to the way you build up your concept at the end. The reason why there's a boundary between X and Y has to do with how you respond emotionally to things on either side,. like X is good, Y is bad, or something like that. And so I know the difference between X andY, not because it's self standing in the world but because I react one way to one half of it and the other way to another half.
