The All-Men Are Created Equal
Wes Westmoreland: Thomas Jefferson was the leading critic of slavery in his generation. He says it's not a shock that a political leader in the 18th century would own slaves. In 1776, he writes what I think is the most powerful and important sentence ever written. The all-men are created equal sentence. Within four score and seven years, slavery is gone. Wes: One of the most powerful ideas of the American Revolution is that government serves the people rather than creates them.
