The International Mathematics Olympiad
When you look at the correlation between how much of the form is filled in and how well people do in the international mathematics olympiad, it's all down to their level of persistence. Economist's way of modelling patients, of understanding what patients is like as they use an idea called hyperbolic discounting. If i say to you, ok, i can give you a hundred pounds to day, or a hundred and ten pounds to morrow, a lot of people will take a 100 pounds to day even though they would get more money to morrow. The reason why is that to morrow is q discounted compared to to day, so tomorrow is less important
