Can You Trust the Underlying Technology?
I think you can trust the underlying technology, but it depends on your threat model. If you're concerned about the US government and you do some stuff that is really sensitive industry guard, I probably wouldn't use Tor. VPNs are more dependable, more reliable, speed is better, but then you have to trust one centralized entity. With Tor, you don't have to do that. But with the VPNs, all the traffic that you tunnel through that service, it's, yeah, so the VPN provider can see anything. They can build profiles. They can sell the traffic. And some VPN companies do.
