The issues of class and race have always been at the heart of how Thomas has seen himself. And when I say that, don't just think that I'm talking white-black. We had racial divides among the black community. Ory and Douglas. They had to bring us back to the city. Your complexion is either equal to the brown bag or lighter. Anything darker. It was ridiculed or derogated in some way.
