G o thermal technology is not ready for prime time, says Steve. It would cost billions of dollars to put a receiving station on the ground and maintain it in space. We could use this money to put solar panels on every roof - that's more energy. But then even when you got to maintain it, you got to go all the way up to the roof, and might not be an elevator at the top. And what about putting it on the ocean?
