I really do think that it's because she's a woman and she's a black woman. I don't think that that discrediting of her intellectual and artistic ability would be the same if she were like a grungy white guy playing guitar. Singing is just not really valued in the same way as playing an instrument. And so often that divide on a gender basis is like men play instruments, meaning they learned how to do it allegedly. And singing is just a thing that happens. A natural talent, you know, that you didn't have to develop at all.
