In 1992, In Living Color broadcast their own halftime show on Fox in a mischievous act of counter programming. The ratings for the halftime show probably dropped from like a 43 to a 36,. which is staggering when you think about it. When we came out of that, the answer was, we can never let that happen again. And pretty much immediately, it became the template for every Super Bowl halftime show since.
