Trans and Queer in the 90s and 2000s - Trans People in the News Media

I came out as trans and queer pretty young. I got involved in activism in part because it was just sort of necessary to be an out trans person in context that I was in. And so this idea that there was any such thing as a news media that was covering people in general, you know, fairly and neutrally was really exposed. It became a real conflict for me after I witnessed and reported on Donald Trump's campaign and his election and his inauguration.
