The Difference Between Block Based Editors and Regular Editors

block base editors capture a very similar zeit gest to structured editors for code. Instead of just having this linear buffer of characters, you can have lots of individual blocks. And then you can have blocks that are children of other blocks and so on. This allows you to do things like move an entire sub tree representing an outline, to another position in the document without selecting all of the characters. So things like reparenting becomes a lot easier. Just in general, you have more structure, and there's more things you can do with that structure,. i would phrase it as 'a forest'
