Is Language Enough to Build AI?
I agree with Raya in the sense that if you want to make significant progress in AI, we have to stop ourselves from cutting corners and taking sort of cheap paths towards applications. The people who are not cheating at the moment who are trying to resolve the important problems are mostly working on robotics. Now, that doesn't mean that to make progress towards AI, we necessarily have to have a physically embodied agent. It could be a virtual assistant whose interaction in the world is doing things like calling a search engine or doing arithmetic.
