American Airlines and Southwest Airlines' Data Breach

Unauthorized individual gained access to pilot credential systems on April the 30th and stole documents containing information provided by certain applicants in the pilot and conduct hiring process. American Airlines said that the data breach affected 5,745 pilots and applicants while Southwest reported a total of 3,009. No evidence indicating that the pilot's personal information was specifically targeted or exploited for fraudulent or identity theft purposes were found. The airline's will from now on direct all pilot and conduct applications to self-manage internal portals.
