What Is Metabolic Adaptation?

When someone starts to dieting, there are two things that promote metabolic adaptation. One is being in an active energy deficit day over day and then gradual long term depletion of fat stores. The other side of metabolic adaptation is essentially completely parallel with what we call relative energy deficiency in sport. It's this whole series of physiological side effects to dieting.
