Melanchthon wants to follow Plutarch in some extent in his interpretation of Homer. He says, the Homeric poem doesn't have two parts. It has two themes. One is entitled ilead, the other Odyssey. The ilead and the Odyssey can be horrifying at parts, especially the ilead. I just page after page of extremely graphic, literal descriptions of people's violent deaths.
