This closes out a cycle where Trump's handpicked candidates did did poorly, like even when they won. The majority of Democrats said in poll after poll after poll that they were prioritizing electability over the candidate that matched their policy preferences. And I think this is an emotion that may come with being the party out of power. Like, yes, you may have your policy preferences, but ultimately none of that matters if you can't seize power in Washington.
