The Properties of Gluons and Clowns

Gluons essentially glue the quarks together inside the proton or indeed inside the neutrons. How do they do that? Well, all our forces at the fundamental level arise because you have particles being exchanged. We can't see gluons directly in that we can't sort of get them out in the lab and watch a gluon propagate. So what we can see is the evidence of the gluon having fragmented into more hadrons.
