The study is titled Transcranial Near Infrared Light Stimulations, Improve Cognition in Patients with Dementia. It was published in July of 2021 in Aging and Disease. They say that light near infrared light specifically with LEDs can efficiently penetrate the skin and skull to reach the brain parencoma. There's a lot more details here but just understand this deposition of energy going into the tissues of the brain stimulates some of these natural mechanisms through the body's own way.
