The Importance of the Street Trade in London

Baked potatoes are one of the most common street foods of Victorian London and it wouldn't be possible if you were carrying around that oven yourself. It just would be impossible and somewhat dangerous to bounce on top of your head even in an era without the safety and health standards hawkers as you write are best known for their cries. You say all the complex reasons why hawkers mattered to London's histories are encapsulated in their voices. What do you mean by that? I think it's summed up in the whole book really because what I mean by that is that hawkers matter on all sorts of different levels.
