The Russian Police Are Not About Mass Protests
Manin i himself went to a couple of protests, which basically barely got off the ground. Anyone who goes out is a, insanely brave and b, basically insane,. sadly, because it's so dangerous and the police are so violent. The machine of repression is so efficient. And at every protest that weh've seen, the protesters have been outnumbered by the police by a considerable degree. There was a prayer meeting on three of the war right near my apartment in moscow. About 200 people gathered, literally, for a public prayer meeting outside the cathedral of christ the saviour. And these 200 people were met by at least twice as many policemen, and everyone was grabbed off the street
